Administration

The Office of the Mayor is responsible for implementing City Council policies and supporting staff in providing a variety of services to our residents. This department is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, handling emergencies, and planning and coordinating the overall strategic management of city government. The administrative department includes the Mayor, Assistant Mayor, and City Secretary.

Design, planning and development

The Community Development Department (Planning and Zoning) is responsible for protecting and enhancing the quality of Purcellville’s natural and built environment. We accomplish this goal through comprehensive planning for the future of the city and through the administration of the city’s development and zoning regulations.

Finance

The Finance Department consists of three divisions: Financial Services, Accounts and Collections, and Accounting. Financial Services establishes and maintains sound fiscal policies for the City, including the annual budget, debt management, and procurement. Billing and Collection is responsible for billing and collecting water and sewer, taxes, and customer support services. Accounting is responsible for accounting functions and internal financial reporting, payroll and accounts payable.

Information Technology

The Information Technology (IT) Department is responsible for the acquisition, installation, maintenance and support of all computer and communications equipment and software throughout the City. The mission of IT is to ensure the efficient operation of the department by providing computer hardware and software services to all City departments and identifying technology solutions to improve efficiency for staff and citizens.
