Purcellville Train Station

The Purcellville Train Station was acquired by the Purcellville Preservation Association (PPA) in June 1993 through monies donated by local business and civic groups as well as individuals from across the county and from the local metropolitan area.

PPA

The PPA is restoring the station and thereby providing needed services to the users of the Washington and Old Dominion (W&OD) hike/bike trail and members of the local community. An ISTEA grant was received and a contractor completed the bulk of the renovation between August 1998 and September 1999.

Atmosphere

Situated at the terminus of the Washington and Old Dominion (W&OD) trail, the Purcellville Train Station is also located at the foot of the downtown business district and within general walking distance of most locations in town.

Completed restoration plans include rest room facilities for the many users of the W&OD trail, a small visitor center/museum, and a meeting room for use by members of the local community.

Rest Room Facilities

Presently there are no public rest room facilities within the Town of Purcellville  

for the many users of the W&OD trail except for a portable toilet located where the trail crosses Hatcher Avenue.

Provide

The train station site will also provide a picnic area and water fountain. Additionally, the visitor center/museum, which is planned for the site, will serve as a catalyst for the revitalization of the downtown business district, bring tourism to the Town and Western Loudoun County and thereby stimulate the overall economy of the area. The meeting room will be available for use by organizations and members of the community wishing to use it.
